Project Manager – Stamford, CT

Our client is a general contracting and construction management firm that has been in operation for over thirty-five years. They are a division of a real estate company that owns, develops, and invests in assets nationally that was founded over 100 years ago. With an annual volume in excess of $100 million and an average of over 50 projects each year, they focus on office, healthcare, municipal, education, corporate interior, and other commercial projects in Connecticut and New York. They have a very team oriented approach to projects and their average tenure of employees is 12 years. Due to growth, they have a need for a Project Manager that will report to the Vice President, Operations.    

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall Project and its on-time completion. He/she must work together as a team with the Superintendent, providing all drawings and paperwork in order to allow the Superintendent to run the job in the field. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain project schedule in combination with the project Superintendent.
• Oversee general administration of the project and coordinate all aspects of each job, from commencement to completion.
• Provide full administrative support to Field Superintendent, including coordination of project requirements, updating job schedule, punch list items, as-builts, etc.
• Apply for all necessary permits and certificates.
• Maintain current knowledge of all contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, and contract documents.
• Act as liaison between architect, owner/tenant, and subcontractors through weekly job meetings and other negotiations.
• Generate all documentation such as change orders and purchase orders, through requisition for payment; general correspondence, meeting minutes, etc.
• Assist with other project duties, as required.

Requirements and Competencies:

• College Degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
• Requires 5 to 10 years’ experience managing commercial projects, tenant fit-up work, and working with owners, architects and subcontractors.
• Must possess excellent written/verbal communication skills.
• Must have strong computer skills.
• Must be highly organized and able to manage the details of multiple projects.
• Must be a cooperative and team oriented individual with an ability to interact with all levels of clientele, vendors and executive and corporate staff.
